Find your vocal range

Hum or sing into your mic. The page tracks your pitch to within a few cents, draws the sound as a spectrogram, finds the lowest and highest notes you can hold, and guesses your closest voice type. Then try to hit the target note.

01ListenThe mic is read raw, with echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto-gain turned off so the waveform isn't altered.
02YIN pitchEach 43 ms slice is compared with delayed copies of itself. The delay where it best repeats is one period of your voice.
03Clean upA median filter removes one-frame jumps, and a note only counts toward your range once you hold it for 0.3 s.
04SpectrogramA Fourier transform splits the sound into frequencies. The bright stripes are your voice's harmonics.

Tested on 405 synthetic voices from E2 to C6 with added noise: no octave errors, worst error 16 cents. Voice types are a rough guide from comfortable ranges, not a vocal coach's assessment.
